The Circulation System:

To keep the water clear and clean, a swimming pool comes equipped with a circulation system. The circulation system is often referred to as the pool's support system. The main purposes of the circulation system are to remove dirt and debris by filtering the water and to aid in the distribution of disinfecting chemicals. For the circulation system to be effective, there must be water moving through it continually.

The circulation system of a pool or spa is analogous to the circulation system in the human body. Pool water, just like blood in the human body is constantly moving in a loop. A pool pump pushes the pool water through the system in the same way that the heart pushes blood. The pool filter reduces contaminants just as our kidneys do.

The most important components of the circulation system are the pool outlets, the pool inlets, the hair and lint strainer, the pool pump, and the filters.
