Malodorous, Irritating Water

If your pool water smells like chlorine, burns the eyes, or irritates the skin, there are probably high combined chlorine levels in the pool. Take free, total, and combined chlorine readings, then shock your pool with an amount of chlorine that is ten times greater than the combined reading. Eye irritation may also be caused by a low pH or unbalanced water, so when necessary, the pH should be raised and the water balanced.
